Wake me up staying strong at the top

“House” and “Country” music have few similarities in terms of the structural aspects of both genres, yet combined they create a chart topping hit.

Typically, House music involves prominent basslines, short and high pitched riffs, with a constant kick drum accompanying every beat. Country music however  originates from the rural regions of western America, usually with a guitar, banjo or perhaps a harmonica present. Three weeks ago young Swede Tim Bergling also known as “Avicii” topped the charts with a ” country house” song “Wake me up” featuring Alloe Blacc and has remained there since.

Having played the song publicly at this years Ultra music Festival in Miami during March, there were many doubters, including the most loyal of Avicii fans. Mr Bergling however  managed to convince the masses and as a result achieved unprecedented success proving to be the fastest selling single of the year so far. Moreover the hit has made the number one spot in 14 different countries topping the charts in both the Netherlands and Sweden, both of which hold House close to their hearts. The single also achieved success in the U.S. and Canadian charts, falling one short of the top at number 2.

On one of his podcasts earlier this year Avicii revealed to the masses how he is “working on some different and cool stuff this Summer” and that this year has been his “best” so far.

Long may the success continue for Avicii and Mr Blacc, as they won’t want to wake up from this particular dream.
