Wake me up staying strong at the top

“House” and “Country” music have few similarities in terms of the structural aspects of both genres, yet combined they create a chart topping hit.

Typically, House music involves prominent basslines, short and high pitched riffs, with a constant kick drum accompanying every beat. Country music however  originates from the rural regions of western America, usually with a guitar, banjo or perhaps a harmonica present. Three weeks ago young Swede Tim Bergling also known as “Avicii” topped the charts with a ” country house” song “Wake me up” featuring Alloe Blacc and has remained there since.

Having played the song publicly at this years Ultra music Festival in Miami during March, there were many doubters, including the most loyal of Avicii fans. Mr Bergling however  managed to convince the masses and as a result achieved unprecedented success proving to be the fastest selling single of the year so far. Moreover the hit has made the number one spot in 14 different countries topping the charts in both the Netherlands and Sweden, both of which hold House close to their hearts. The single also achieved success in the U.S. and Canadian charts, falling one short of the top at number 2.

On one of his podcasts earlier this year Avicii revealed to the masses how he is “working on some different and cool stuff this Summer” and that this year has been his “best” so far.

Long may the success continue for Avicii and Mr Blacc, as they won’t want to wake up from this particular dream.

Electric Daisy Carnival, a Capital electrified

This year on the 20th of July, EDC (Electric Daisy Carnival) broaden its horizons and for the first time, showed London what’s to be seen amongst the biggest EDM (Electronic Dance Music) producers and DJ’s in the world. Dubbed as the “warm up” almost a month before the highly anticipated “Creamfields” festival in Daresbury Farm, Warrington, Insomniac events provided an electrifying teaser with EDM heavyweights such as; the colossal young Swede Avicii, Dutch legend Tiesto, and one third of the infamous Swedish House Mafia, Steve Angello.

Hosted within the Olympic Park, the event proved a great advert for both Dance music and London with thousands of people in attendance from around the globe, all party to the blissful electronic synths spouted from the main stage. Dutch sensation Hardwell started the show and didn’t disappoint providing the crowd with his hard-hitting style, as well as releasing his latest collaboration with the exciting producer Dyro, “Never say goodbye”. Alesso was on next and proved the crowd exactly why he’s become SHM’s new prodigee, as his uplifting and melodic traits were ever apparent throughout his performance, as well as showcasing his latest remix of Keane’s song “If I lose myself”. Steve Angello followed showing as always that your money is well spent when in attendance of the Swedish veteran. However although the Dutch genius Tiesto ended the show with a performance that would leave fans of every sub-genre of dance music satisfied, it was Avicii that stole the show, with his unique variety and innate knack of sensing exactly what the crowd wants never failing to deliver. The Swede who was behind the  massive hit “Levels” in 2011 also dropped his latest song “wake me up” with American pop star Alloe Blacc, and after it’s recent success it would take a brave man betting against the hit making them lots of “dollars”.

With Creamfields only weeks away, EDC was exactly what the doctor ordered showcasing exactly why Electro House has taken the charts by storm attracting interest from artists within all different varieties of genres ranging from hip hop to rock. Hardwell claimed it was “one of the best shows he’s ever done” as he wrote on Twitter to his followers. Insomniac events provided a spectacle worthy of all the hype surrounding it, as EDM was the perfect accomplice in making London bounce and the dance scene shake.

Setting up the site

Choosing a website theme was very straight forward, however I initially wanted to do a website on La Liga, however I changed my mind and opted to create a website regarding Dance music.

Creating the pages and selecting them as menus proved to be hard, as my knowledge on creating websites was very limited.

Trial and error helped, and through trying different options I managed to figure out how to include menus at the top of the screen and selecting the pages I wanted there.

After doing so it was straight forward from there and I managed to include my first menu, and knew how to do so from there on.
